W.I. HANDICRAFT DISPLAY
AT FORTHCOMING SHOW. The various institutes in the surrounding districts of Wanganui have been invited to co-operato with the Suburban Horticultural Show and are this time making a display of handcraft. The public will remember with pleasure the flower display at the last show held and this year the courts will be equally interesting. The competition is being eagerly looked forward to and the judging is to be done by an institute member from another district. The judging is done on a system of points for the work of the institutes which is divided into several classes. Points will be awarded for craft, needlework, thrift, home manufactures, home industries, and also for the most comprehensive and most artistic display. PLEASANT PARTY Aliss A. Al. Bleckett was hostess at a very jolly party held at the Rendezvous last Saturday evening. Airs. W.. Johnson (nee Aliss E. Comrie) being the guest of honour. Airs. Johnson has been a member of the library staff for the past thirteen years and during that time has made many friends. The opportunity -was taken of offering the hearty good wishes of the staff for her future, happiness. The evening was spent in games, competitions and dancing. Solos were given by Aliss Stella Ashmore. The winner of a very amusing wjmpetition was Air. W. Johnson, and the Lucky Spot Waltz was won by Aliss K. Instone (Christchurch) and Air. G. More wether. The evening concluded with tho singing of Auld Lang Syne. Those present were Air. and Airs. W. Johnson, Air. and Mrs. Comrie, Air. and Airs. C. R. White, Air. and Airs. Alexander, Air. and Airs. L. Comrie; Misses A. Al. Blackett, L. Adams, S. Ashmore, R. Comrie, N. Glenn, K. Insto.nc (Christchurch), J. Donaldson, S. Williams, Al. Richards, C. Alexander, B. Alexander; Alessrs. F. Donaldson, G. Alerewether, Eric Cooper, AL Williams, L. Roy.
