WEATHER FORECAST Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, Sept. 3, 4 p.m. General Situation. —An anti-cyclone of considerable intensity covers the central and southern portions of the Dominion, but a deep cyclone is approaching the northern from the north-west. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to fresh west to south-west in the extreme South, elsewhere east to north, strong to gale force in the far north, otherwise light to moderate, but freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters: Rough to heavy north of East Cape, and rather rough north of Cape Egmont, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: East to north-east winds, strong to gale force in the northern portion, elsewhere light to fresh; seas rough in the northern portion, elsewhere moderate. Weather: Fine at first in most districts, but rain developing north of Auckland and extending gradually southwards. Heavy falls and some floods likely in the far north, and fairly general rain probable within about 48 hours.
