FOOTBALLER’S DEATH
COLLAPSE ON THE FIELD WELL-KNOWN MAORI PLAYER. [ Per Pi ess Association ] AUCKLAND, Sept. 2. Af@ being injured in a Maori Bugby football game lor the Prince of Wales Cup yesterday afternoon, a young 'Wellington representative player Jack Ruru, aged 22; single, died from haemorrhage in Rotorua Hospital tonight. He was captain of the Tairawhili (East Coast) team, which played Taihauauru, the West Coact combination at Rotorua. Ruru was injured in a previous game about a fortnight ago, and during yesterday’s match he appeared to be still suffering from the effects of concussion. Playing at fiveeighths he was injured again when he went down to stop a forward rush in the second spell and collapsed.
