RUAPEHU SKI CLUB
FURTHER HUTS URGED. WELCOME TO SOUTHERN PARTY. The necessity for further shelter accommodation during annual winter sport's gatherings on the ski-ing grounds at Mout Ruapehu was stressed by Mr. R. Syme, vice-president of the Ruapehu Ski Club, at the annual meeting held at the Chateau. A more adequate hut with sleeping accommodation than the club’s glacier hut also was required, said Mr. Syme. It was hoped that the committee’s negotiations with the Tourist Department and the Tongariro National Park Board for permission to provide further huts would be completed in the coming year. In extending a welcome to the party of South Island skiers and Mr. T. W. Mitchell, Australian champion. Mr. Syme said it was very gratifying to see for the first time a large number of skiers from the South Island visiting the Chateau, thus ensuring that the - present championship gathering would - be the most representative yet held in , the Dominion. He hoped it would be r the forerunner of an annual interchange r of visits.
