WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, Sept. 2, 4 p.m. General Situation.—An intense anti-cyclone is centred over Tasmania and extends across the Tasman on. to New Zealand, while a depression is located in the north Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Southerly to south-easterly prevailing, later veering to easterly in the far north, moderate, but increasing generally in force. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of East Cape and about Foveaux Straits, and a considerable southerly swell south of East Cape; elsewhere, moderate. Eastern Tasman: Strong easterly winds in the northern portion and south-easterly in the southern; seas, rough. Weather: Mainly fair in western districts from Taranaki southwards; elsewhere, changeable, with rain in the far north and scattered showers in eastern districts. Temperatures cold. Phases of the moon for September: Last quarter, September 2; new moon, September 10; first quarter, September 17; full moon, September 24.
