TROUBLE AT TORONTO

Pearce was reported to-night to have objected to the postponement of his race with Miller- It was said that he asked that the race should be raced with Barry as a substitute. Pearce is .said to have declared that he had regulated his training so as to be at the peak of his.form on Friday night. If <
the race was not forfeited by MlHef someone else should compete. Pearra was taid to have packed up and, left for Hamilton. Barry appeared at the Canadian Ha* tional Exhibition sports headquarters saying that he was notified by Pearce to make arrangements for a substitute race. Officials said they could not eoMfider such a proposition. Barry expressed displeasure, claiming that Pearce's request inferred that everything h«d been arranged. Barry said he planned to catch the Empress of Britain to sail for home on Thursday night, and had disrupted his plans to return fp exhibition.
