FIGHT WITH GREEK
>p - ——- s' SYDNEY TRAFFIC OFFICER re STRUGGLE IN RESTAURANT rReceived Aug. 19, 6.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 19. A traffic officer, Sergeant Parr, had a sensational •clash with a Greek on Saturday, following his interrogating a man for alleged jaywalking. It is stated that the officer, endeavouring to ascertain the man’s name, followed him to the kitchen of a restaurant, where a Greek, wearing a waiter’s coat, attacked the sergeant with a chair. Eventually the sergeant LS was picked up bodily and thrown on 1 ’ to an almost red-hot range, and sufa ’ fered severe burns to his legs and one hand. In spite of his injuries, the officer dived at the man, who is alleged to have grasped a knife. After a further struggle the man escaped into the street. The officer followed, and saw a man running. Drawing a revolver, Sergeant Parr •commanded the man to stop, and arrested him. The officer subsequently was taken to hospital for treatment. __
