However, when the time for the descent had long passed, it began ’ to be feared that something untoward ’ had happened. The balloon drifted ' across Europe from the Belgian Arf dennes to the mountainous regions on the border of Jugo-Slavia. It was expected that a landing would be made in Bavaria, but the balloon was last sighted over Hungary near the Jugoslav border. .
