BEATEN TO DEATH
ANOTHER NEGRO VICTIM. NEW YORK, Aug. 8. A message from Shreveport, Louisiana, states that Grafton Page, a negro, , known among the coloured community as the “trouble-maker,” was stripped, . tied with his hands above his head to the limb of an elm tree, and beaten to death. . The act was committed by ten other negroes, who wielded pine clubs. Afterwards the body was cut down and thrown into a pine scrub.
