WOMEN’S DIVISION

HUNTERVILLE BRANCH. A meeting of the Hunterville branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on Thursday, August 16. Among those present were Mesdames Cruicksh.auk, L. J. Thompson, Harvey, J. Brown, Graham, Morrison, lb. Cameron, C. Iliston, Hen wood, Abel, G. Wilson, R. Coleman, Llayd Hammond and Scott-Maundrell,’ Misses D. Howie, J. Aidworth, Morrison, Colefan and Walker. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames J. Howie, T. U. L. Powell, Shackleton, P. Weston. Hogg, Toulmin, Lilbourn, A. IDalziell and Miss Alldworth. Mrs. Lloyd Hammond presided. Motions of sympathy were passed to the relatives of the late Mr, MeAUey and Mr. Pitcher, members standing in silence. A vote of thanks was passed to all those who so generously helped to make the birthday ball the huge success that it was especially, the following: Mrs Roper, for making’ the birthday cake, MesiJaines Lindsay, Bull and R. M. S Jones for arranging the decorations, Mrs. Watt, for making coffy. Miss Chaney for her splendid Avork in designing and painting the emblems, Mrs. A. Rhodes for her gifts of Mesdames J. Lilburn, L. J. Thoiwson, D. Simpson, Lloyd Hamniond rind Mr. Brunton for their generous donations and all those Avho worked so hard in the supper room. It Avas decided to hold a public meeting in September for Miss Macmillan of the Sarah Ann Rhodes Fellowship and Home Science to give a lecture on “Feed a*id Health.” It Avas decided to hold on September 13, a combined sale of work on behalf of the Blind Institute and Disabled Soldiers. Afternoon tea and an entertainment will also be arranged. Mr. Hislop, from Wanganui, gave a most interesting demonstration in art work with a Singer sewing machine. An excellent afternoon tea was provided by the hostesses, Mesdames D. Cameron, G. Wilson, Morrison and Henwood.
