REVIVING OLD MEMORIES. (From “The Chronicle,” Aug. 20, 1909) Four candidates have announced themselves for the forthcoming Rangitikei election. They are Messrs. George Hutchinson, Frank H. Hockley, A. J. Joblin and W. Meldrum. The heavy raiu of the last few days has been responsible for a number of slips in the district. A largo slip has occurred blocking about five chains of road on the Marangai Hili, No. 1 Line. On the No. 3 Line, about a mile from town, another land slip occurred. A shed and a fowl house werj caught by the slide and carried down to the main road which was blocked for about a chain. • • • • The following team has been chosen to represent Wanganui against Taranaki at New Plymouth: —Backs: Coe, Signail, Abbott, Campion (2), McLeod, Mitchell, Dow and Jago; forwards: Murray, Aliller, Dustin, Bishop, Aitken, Leahy, Russell, Takarangi and Souter.
