NOT FOB TAKAPUNA CLUB APPLICATION NOT GRANTED [ Per Press ".ssocTatlon. ’ AUCKLAND, July 3. An application from the Takapuna Jockey Club to raco at Ellerslie during the coming season and to use the win and place system of betting was consid ered by the committee of the Auckland Racing Club, which decided that it could not see its way clear to grant the application. Plans for alterations to the Takapuna course were recently approved by the executive committee of the Racing Conference, which granted the club permission to race on an adjacent course during the coming season while the alterations arc in progress. Mr. Oliver Nicholson, president of the Auckland Racing Club, said he had no statement to make to add to the decision of the commit fop.
