INDIAN COLONISATION
SUGGESTED TERRITORIES NORTH BORNEO CO.’S OFFER CALCUTTA, July 2. British North Borneo, New Guinea, and British Guiana arc suggested as possible colonies for Indians by the Colonisation Inquiry Committee, which was appointed by the South. African Government last year following the Capetown conference between the African and Indian representatives. The committee favours a large land settlement scheme to be financed by the Governments of India and South Africa, or the creation overseas of an Indian colony, to be developed chiefly by Indian enterprise. The British North Borneo Company is prepared to negotiate for the transfer of that territory’s sovereignty to the Indian Government or to an Indian chartered company.
