WEDDINGS LEITH—SIMPSON Yesterday afternoon the wedding took place at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Wanganui, of Ealasaid Catherine, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. T. Simpson, of Rongoti, Alartc-iq and David Victor, sc-n of Air. and Airs. D. Leith, of Ohingaiti. The Rev. John I‘atcrson, AI.A., officiated, and Airs. Emmett played the wedding music. The bride was given away by her father and wore a well-cut frock of wine-red phantom satin made with the new full sleeves and round neckline finished in the front with a smart bow lined with beige-pebbled crepe. She wore a velour hat to match, and carried a lovely bouquet of deep pink carnations, roses, heath, daphne, autumn leaves and asparagus fern. Her cousin, Aliss Enid Collins, of Alaugaweka, was bridesmaid and wore a becoming frock of cc-tele in the same shade as the bride’s frock. The bodice had a deep ovcr-the-stioulder yoke of wine satin beaute and the luJiy-cowled sleeves were ruched the top and inset below the shoulder. A toque of corded velvet to match was worn and she carried a bouquet in a paler shade of pink and composed of roses, carnations, autumn leaves and asparagus. Air. Ivan Simpson was best man. The bride, who entered the cathedral with her father, wore a gown of parchment satin cut ou classical lines with a small cape of crushed velvet and caught with a girdle at the waist. The veil of Brussels lace was arranged on the head with a- tiny cap and she carried an ivory-backed prayer book. Aliss Esme Hughes, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid and wore a frock of powdered blue suede silk with a square ucck line and velvet-edged epaulettes. CARPENTER—-COOK 'The Presbyterian Church, Shannon, was the scene of a quiet but very pretty wedding on June 27, when Jean Alary, third daughter of Air. and Airs. F. Cook, Afakarua, Shannon, and Lyndon Brooke, third son of Air. and Airs. C. H. G. Carpenter, Onepuhi, Alai ton. were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the Rev. Fothcringham being the officiating minister. Entering the church with her father, the bride ma,de a charming picture in her gown of ivory crepe sandona cut on classical lines and featuring the new cowl sleeves, which ended in a tight cuff inset with velvet from elbow to wrist. A dainty spray of orange blossom finished the corsage and pearls and orange blossoms held in place the beautiful embroidered veil. The bridal ensemble was completed with a shower bouquet of chrysanthemums, roses, pale pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Aliss Alav Cook, daintily gowned in a slim-fitting frock of duchess blue crinkle crepe with hat and shoes to tone and carrying a posy in autumn tints. Air. Harry Carpenter, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a smart wine frock with hat and shoes to match and carrying a posy of violets. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a grey check costume and wino hat.
