RUGBY FOOTBALL The local team travelled to Ohakea on Saturday to meet thc Ohakea juniors. The home team could only muster 12 men. The teams were made up to 14-a-side. Sandon won easily by 22 points to 3. The Awahuri juniors were to meet Rongotca at, Rongotea. Owing to a misunderstanding Awahuri were informed, in response to a telephone enquiry, that the game was off, with the result that most of the team did not go down. Thc few who went found most of the Rongotea team on the ground. The playing area is reported to have been unfit. BOY SCOUTS The local troop is making good progress under the direction of Rev. Fordyce. Mr F. W. Tostevin L:is given two addresser on first-aid. Those have been appreciated by the boys ahd keen interest has been taken in this most useful work. Funds arc required to further the movement anJ with this in view, preparation is being made to hold a Scout concert early in August. GIRL GUIDES A meeting to consider forming a Girl Guide troop was held on Saturday afternoon. There were twelve intending members present and apologies were received from several who were unable to attend. Tt was decided to form a troop with Miss J. Kilpatrick as acting-captain. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING The Sandon Club was represented with four teams at the association shoot held at Longburn on Friday night. The Lumsden family repeated their performance of last year and again won the Jones Shield, the run-ners-up being Bulls one point behind. The scores of the winners was 490, the individual scores being: Keith Lumsden 100. Ken Lumsden 99, Roy Lumsden 97*, Eric Lumsden 97, W. A. Lumsden 97. The win was a popular one and the team was heartily congratulated.
