PLAY AT EKETAHUNA HOLING IN ONE I Per Press Association. ) EKETAHUNA, July 2. The Ekotahuna Golf Club has an unusual performance to its credit. Less than a fortnight age- Dr. E. M. Simmers, thc president, holed his tee shot at the seventh and this week-end W. J. Henderson, the captain, repeated the shot. SHAW PROVES BRILLIANT WEEK-END MATCH PLAYED PROFESSIONALS AND AMATEURS The return match over 36 holes between T. H. Horton and J. P. Hornabrook (Masterton amateurs) and A. J. Shaw and J. D. Mclntosh (professionals) was played on the Shandon Jinks over the week-end, and resulted in a win for the professionals by 3 and 2. The gallery that followed the match was rewarded with exhibitions of fine driving and fine approaching all day. The professionals produced the better putting in the morning and in the afternoon the amateurs had a good putting run. One of thc objects of the matches is to assist the professionals who will visit Melbourne during the Centenary celebrations, and it was gratifying to see an attendance of over 300. The morning round saw the professionals 5 up. with a best ball of 61. Tn the afternoon the best ball, c-f Shaw and Mclntosh, was:— Out: 444345444—30. In: 534434343—33; 69. The afternoon best ball of Horton and Horraabrook was:— Out: 544344343—34. In: 444434343—33; 67. In. the morning round Hc-rtou was unfortunate with his long putts, just missing on several occasions. Shaw played very sound golf throughout and covered the course in 67. His card read:— Out: 344345454—36. Tn: 534433243—31. Horton was 70, as follows: Out: 453344453—35. Tn: 444534344—35.
