FODDER COMPETITIONS
WANGANUI DISTRICT CREDITABLE RESULTS ACHIEVED. Root, hay and ensilage competitions, need in various parts of the Wanganui district under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union, were judged last week by Mr. T. W. Lonsdale, Held instructor to the Wanganui Department of Agriculture. Points were awarded for the best general material for winter feed, quality, the method of harvesting and stacking. Mr. Lonsdale stated that, generally speaking, the work had been carried out by the competitors fairly efficiently. There were some instances in which more attention might have been paid to cultivation, but, on the whole, the results were most creditable. Air. Lonsdale also said that, for the first occasion upon which it had entered the competitions, the results achieved in the Putorino district were very good. Results of the judging were: CARROTS.
