PREPARED OPIUM
WELLINGTON POLICE RAID I Ter frees Association. J WELLINGTON, June 30. Prepared smoking opium of a possible value in New Zealand of nearly £7OO, was seized by Customs officers and detectives when they raided a house in Kent Terrace this morning. As a result, it is probable that at least two persons will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on charges of having been found unlawfully in possession of this drug. Those involved are Europeans. The raiding party found 18 halfpound tins and 60 2oz tins of illegally imported opium, all neatly parcelled up together with a quantity of “seconds” or slightly used opium.
