A business meeting was held afterwards to finalise arrangements for a Paddy’s Market to be held in the second week of July, the date to be announced by advertisement. There will be great bargains in new and secondhand clothing, books, produce, etc., as well as other stalls. The proceeds will be devoted to swell Plunket funds. FANCY HAT PARTY A children’s fancy hat party and lance was held in St. Peter’s Parish Hall on Saturday in aid of the Sunday School Queen. Prizes for the fancy hats were won as follows: Girls, M. Maston 1, P. Nye 2. Boys, H. Payne 1, F. Webb 2. Miss Swan kindly brought her pupils and gave some dance items which were very much enjoyed and games were indulged in. Among those present were:—P. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE The Wanganui branch of the Educational Institute held a social gatheringon Friday last at the Repertory Theatre. The first part of the evening was taken up by reports from the recent conference in Wellington, aftcr which members were entertained by the presentation of a play entitled “T’pup.” The parts were taken by Miss Phyllis Ward, Mr. O. Naumann, and Mr. N. James. T’pup himself was Mrs. Rankin’s beautiful dog. The play was greatly enjoyed by those present. Competitions and supper ended a pleasant evening.
