Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, June 29, 4 p.m. General Situation.—A secondary depression has been crossing the Dominion, but a fairly intense anti-cyclone is now moving from Eastern Australia on to the Tasman Sea. Forecast. —Winds: Strong westerly to southerly of gale force in many places. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough to heavy. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-west winds to gales, and heavy seas. Weather: Cold, squally and changeable, with heavy showers in most districts and in places hail. Snow on the high country, also on parts of the low levels of the South Island. The New Zealand Friends’’School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright, sunshine, 1 hour 20 minutes. Rainfall, .35 inches. Shade temperature: Maximum, 48 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 44 dog. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for June: Last quarter, June 6; now moon, June 13; first quarter, June 21; new moon, June 28.
