NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL the henselite question At Ihe last meeting of the council ot the Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association the Auckland centre the following remit; -VZ.B.A. tournament: That, the Singles competition be played in seilions of six n a ,.h . 1 oacn player to piny against the other five on the first dav. after which the two-life system shall “IW, the outright unbeaten winners ot. sections to go forward as two-lifers, and those tieing as winners of sections with less than five wins to go forward as oiic-lifers. ” This matter was relerred to the incoming council. “ It was reported that Mr. H. G. Mayer, Wellington, was preparin-' maps shoxving the boundaries of the various centres. These will probably be ready lor the annual meeting to be held m Auckland next month. Ihe Henselite bowl question dropped np m a letter asking if the council had any idea of the number of these Ijoxvls in existence in New Zealand. The letter was merely “received. o Bowls Of “Approved Material.” The president gave notice of motion regarding rule 18 of the laws of tbo game, as follows:—“That rule 18, ‘Bowls must be of lignum vitae of anv approved material.’ be rescinded, and that the following be inserted instead: hnle 18. Bowls must, be made of material approved by the council at an annual or half-yearly meeting. 18a; That all bowls be subjected to an approved density or hardness test, and that no nexv style ot bow] being introduced into New Zealand be approved, by the council that exceeds the general average density of the lignum vitae bowl. 18b: Bowls approved, Bussey Polloid, Bussey Waverley, Dunlop hard rubber or vulcanite, Barnett Glass, lignum vitae, Lawrie lignum vitae weighted (? Lawrie’s compound and excelite). 18c: Bowl testers shall nub stamp any bowl that has not first approved by the council. Such approval in every case must have been received in writing from the secretary of the N.Z.B.A. 18d: That the weight size for composition bowls approved by the council be inserted in the laxvs of the game.” The secretary was instructed to write to the official bowl-tester asking him to answer the following two question?, lor the information of members of the council:— “1. Do you consider that the rings nn Henselite boxvls can bo modified in New Zealand to such nn extent that these rings will do no further damage to wooden boxvls?” “2. Do you consider the Haraometcr test of the Henselite bow], i.e., 50 in comparison to wooden bowls 31, means that the hardness of the former must, do damage to the latter, irreapective of the question of the ringsf”
