ROTARY CONVENTION
INTERNATIONAL GATHERING Received June 26, 11.5 p.m. NEW YORK, June 25. A message from Detroit says that 10,000 delegates, representing 70 nations, have gathered for the opening session of the International Rotary Convention. In his presidential address, Mr. John Nelson declared that the organisation “is a realm without frontiers,” which could not countenance discrimination within its borders because of racial prejudices. The Mayor, Mr. Frank Couzcns, gave a welcome address, which was responded to by Mr. Hott, of Wellington, on behalf of the foreign delegates. The Australian and New Zealand Party, consisting of 16 persons, have established their headquarters at St. Atler Hotel. They enjoyed several days’ outing on Lake Mackinao, as well as automobile sightseeing tours of Detroit and the vicinity.
