WEDDING

BLACK— WHALE. A very pretty and popular wedding took place in St. Andrew’s Church, Marton, on June 6, the contracting parties being Miss Kuby Isabel Whale youngest daughter of the late K. Whale and Mrs. Whale, of Marton, and Mr. Mr. George Black, youngest son of Mr. a “ m Mrs '. Alex Black , of Marton. lhe bride, who entered the church on the arm of her cousin, Mr. Percy Friedrich, was charmingly attired in a dress of cream marocain with lace trimmings She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms and caried a bouquet of chrysanthemums, asparagus and maidenhair fern the gift of her aunt, Mrs. G. hnedneh. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Winnie Oldfield and Miss Mary Wing, the former wearing blue Sand crepe and the latter, apricot Both w-ore hats to tone and carried bouquets which matched the frocks deHgntiuUy. Mr. J. Black carried out the duties of best man, while Mr. A. B. Abel was groomsman Bev. D Mclver was the ofliciatmg clergyman and Miss Windleburn presided at the organ. After the ceremony over 100 guests were entertained in the Druids’ Hal) the hostesses being Mrs. L. M. Oldfield (sister of the bride) and Mrs. J. McHardy Abel (sister of the bridegroom). Conspicuous among the good things provided was the wedding cake which was the gift of Mrs. Oldfield, lhe usual toasts were honoured and later in the day the happy couple left, amid showers of confetti and a bombardment of good wishes, on a tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a tailored navy blue costume with hat and coat to match. Ihe numerous and costly presents were striking testimony to the popularity of Mr. and Mrs. Black, who are members of highly esteemed pioneer families. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a pearl necklace and to the bridesmaids necklaces to tone with their frocks. The groom was the recipient of a handsome pocket wallet from the bride.
