AUSTRALIAN TRADE BALANCE
Australia’s favourable balance of trade for the nine months ended March 31 was £37,857,000 sterling, compared with £33,327,000 sterling for the corresponding period of 1932-33? The favourable commodity balance was £32,496,000 sterling, an improvement! of £15,076,000 sterling on the 1932-33 figures. Exports of merchandise increased by £14,498,000 sterling, and imports declined by £578,000 sterling. Exports of bullion and specie fell by £10.509,000 sterling and imports rose by £37,000 sterling. Much of-, the improvement was due to a tremendous increase in the value of wool shipped. There was a substantial fall in the value of wheat exported.
