The president expressed thanks to all who had assistd towards the success of the ball and paid a tribute to the efforts of Mrs. J. B. Me Knight and acknowledged a donation from Messrs. W. A lengthy list of resolutions to be discussed at the Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington in July was tabled, and it was decided that the institute’s delegate be permitted to use her own discretion in voting on all but the first remit, dealing with the alteration to the constitution and this remit the delegate was instructed to support. ♦Some very useful information was derived from the roll call—a household hint—and the competitions were won by the following:—Best article made from sugar bag: Miss Jean Btent (tea cosy) 1, Miss S. Worsfold offered to supply the institute with firewood for its meetings during the winter and her offer was accepted with thanks, as also was the offer of Mrs. R. Double, who offered to clean the small supper room, which the institute decided to use for meetings during the winter months. Afternoon tea was dispensed and the meeting closed with the National Anthem. The hostesses for the afternoon were I Mesdames Bartlett, Bielski, Bowick and Cole. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 12, when the subject of the roll call will be “A useful item lor the household first-aid box.” The competitions will be: (1) Kintyre cake; (2) most articles put in a slide matchbox. Miss Jean Stent will give a demonstration on the making of pine-needle baskets and “silver paper” pictures. The hostesses will be Mesdames Charles, R. J. Coleman, Davies and Double.
