SOCIAL Arranged by Miss Gladys Keliy, their new leader and secretary, the Patea Active Service Cadets tendered Miss Jean Sheild a happy alternoon in. St. George’s Schoolroom last Tuesday when she was the recipient of many good wishes for her forthcoming wedding. Miss Jean Sheild has carried on the work of the leader of the cadets for many years, originating the corps in Patea. Miss Gladys Kelly is taking over her duties, and her first important action was that of being hostess to Mrs W. F. Sheild and Miss Jean at a farewell party. The cadets spent a very happy time, and enteitained their guests and mothers with songs, danv-es am! recitations, which were greatly’appreciated. Afternoon tea was served, Mrs W. Kelly assisting her daughter. This was followed by the presentation by little Miss Gwen Bond, from the Active Service Cadets, to Miss Jean of a beautiful water colour painting of Salisbury Cathedral, and a set of cruets.
