“MY WEAKNESS.” / Lilian Harvey is co-featured with Lew Ayres in “My Weakness,” the new Fox production now showing at the Plaza Theatre. Miss Harvey, who will be remembered by audiences for her sterling performance in “Congress Dances,” makes her debut in “My Weakness,” a film said to possess every element necessary for the perfect performance of this refreshing star. It has lightness, humour, song, dance, romance and an indomitably carefree spirit. Miss Harvey is reported as the possessor of great' versatility in every department of the dramatic art and her first Fox film is said to give her every opportunity. The story concerns a plain young girl who, quite by accident, becomes a much sought-after person. It is more or less in the nature of a wager that she cannot be made atti active, that she is first put on the road to fame for her beauty. She follows victim with victim, until the very man who made the disparaging wager falls a victim himself. “My Weakness” has been produced under the supervision of Buddy DeSylva, producer of Janet Gaynor’s unforgettable “Sunny Side Up.” He brings to his screen efforts an unbroken record of some of the most successful productions of the musical stage. 'The story of “My Weakness” is of his own authorship and, with Leo Robin and Richard Whiting, also wrote the music and lyrics. The supporting cast includes Charles Butterworth, Harry Langdon, Sid Silvers, Irene Bentley, Henry Travers, Adrian Rosley, Mary Howard and a number of Hollywood’s most beautiful girls, among whom are Irene Ware, Barbara Weeks Susan Fleming, Marcelle Edwards, Marjorie King, Jean Allen, Gladys Blake and Dixie Frances. David Butler directed the production from his own continuity.
