OHAKEA M.B. CLUB. The following scores were registered on the Ohakea Miniature Rifle <Club’s range on Monday night:—

travel to Wanganui on Saturday night to shoot against a Wanganui team:— H. Ellery, G. Wiggins, P. Ellery, S. Quinlan, E. Simpson, K. Green, J. Simpson, G. Murray, L. Snellgrove, J. Frecklington, W. Robinson, J. Ellery, and F. Simpson. (Cars leave at 5.30 p.m.) RANGITIKEI LADIES’ CLUB. There was a fair attendance of pliers on Tuesday afternoon although W cold wind made conditions rather unpleasant. A bogey match was played, i the best cards returned being as folilows: Mrs. McDonell, 4 down; Miss j Tricker, 5 down; Miss Palmer, 6 down. I In the junior grade the best cards ' were handed in by Mrs. W. Pearce and jMiss Burne. SOCIAL FUNCTIONS. The Parewanui School euchre and dance was well attended on Friday evening, despite the wintry weather, and proved very enjoyable. Winners of most games at cards were Mrs. W. Homes and Mr. H. Bowen. After supper dancing was indulged in. and songs were rendered by Mrs. G. Abraham and Messrs. Rex Homes and J. Pilbrow. On Tuesday afternoon relatives and friends of Mrs. S. Harper, senr., met at her residence. “Fairview,’’ Bulls, to celebrate her 86th birthday. Mrs. Harper was born in Spring Grove, Nelson, and came to Bulls 60 years ago. residing in the district ever since. Mrs. H. Green presented her with a beautiful bouquet of chrysanthemums and autumn foliage, and a number of birthday gifts were received, including a large birthday cake, which was made by Mrs. Gledhill, of Makowhai, and Mrs. H. Green, of Bulls. The cake was surmounted by 86 candles. After the pake had been cut, Mr. H. Harper spoke on his mother’s behalf, returning thanks for the good wishes extended, and for the gifts made, particularly mentioning the donors of the cake. He also thanked all who had helped to make the function such a success. The singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded a very happy party. The Maori Tennis Club’s dance and euchre party, held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, was the most successful held by the club, the attendance being large, and patrons comivg from all parts of the district. A professional orchestra provided splendid music, and extras were played by Mr. Winiata. Mr. Harry Rawiti made ar excellent M.C.. and the supper arrange inents (under the supervision of Mrs. J. Reweti and a number of young ladies' were complete and satisfying. A statue dance was won by Miss Wightman and Mr. E. T. Morrison (Stanway), ant the most successful card players were Mrs. R. Young (Parewanui) and Mr, Noel Langdon.
