CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW. Many fine blooms were displayed at the Chrysanthemum Show held in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday afternoon, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church Ladies' Guild. The champion bloom —an ‘ ‘ Edith Cavell’’ was exhibited by Mrs. Bartlett, who secured several prizes at the show. The judges were as follows:—Cut flowers, Mr. A. Gibson (Marton); decorative section, Misses B. Spooner and P. Oldham; cooking, Mr. it Daniels; sewing, Mrs. W. R. Emerson. The show was officially opened by the Mayoress (Mrs. L. B. H. de Lautour). The Ladies' Guild are indebted to the following donors of trophies and prizes:—Mrs. Forsyth, Mr. H. L. Butler, Miss N Fannin, Mr. R. P. Marsh, Mr. F. W. Somerville, Mr. H. M. MacCallum, Messrs. The organisation was excellent and reflected much credit on the secretary (Rev E. T. King) and his associates. The sewing, sweet, and produce stalls hole in connection with the show were ’ well patronised. An apron competition and a quilt competition were also held, i A large number of people visited the show and all were greatly impressed with the magnificent display of flowers.
