As Mary Marlowe, the young girl who is prepared to leave her wealthy New England home and face the dangers and hardships of the West in order to be with the man she loves, Mary Pickford gives a portrayal which is charming in its simplicity, bravery and devotion. Leslie Howard appears as John Carlton, the young clerk in the Marlowe office, who dares to aspire to the hand of the wealthy heiress. Faced with parental wrath, the two young lovers decide to elope.
