LIFE-SAVING FENCE

“Think Before You Leap.” This is the wording that may soon face passengers standing on London tube platforms if a suggestion received by the underground authorities is put into effect. This is one of the many proposals that have been dealt with by railway officials in their efforts to ciheck the increasing number of fatalities and suicides by people falling or jumping iu front of tube trains. Among th suggestions put forward is the erection at all stations of a wire “grid” which would run the* whole length of the platforms. It would have several sliding doors which would open automatically with those of the trains. Thus would access to the open track be made impossible.
