Bands' Queen Carnival

Permission has been given the Wan ganui Garrison Band by the Wanganui City Council to play in Victoria Avenue to-morrow evening. A collection will be made, the proceeds being devoted in penny votes to the band’s queen, and it is hoped that many votes for thc Queen Carnival will be secured. The money will be used to assist the three Wanganui bands to compete at Wellington. Boxing Day Excursion Visitors are expected to arrive in Wanganui from Marton, lluntorville and Taihape on Boxing Day, Tuesday, when a railway excursion is to run from these distriels. Tho train leaves Taihape at 6.5 o’clock in the morning. I’tiku at 6.24, Mangaweka at 6.46, Hunterville at 7.27, Marton at 8.43, and is due to arrive in Wanganui at 10.35 o’clock. The train will be met by special trams and observation buses and, in addition, special steamer sei vices will be provided to convey the excursionists to the South Beach. The return journey will commence at 5.5 p.m., and the train is du ( > back in Taihape at 9.59 p.m.
