As in bis earlier tours of lhe industrial areas the Prince displayed chief interest n the works of clubs and occupational and training centres established for the unemployed. In Bradford, which has suffered heavily during thc severest phase of the depression, he learned with keen satisfaction that thc number of local unemployed had fallen from 36,000 in 1931 to fewer than 14,000. At. thc occupational centre in .Morley the Prince worked a hand loom on which members were making scarves, one of which was presented to the Prince Similar centres in Hud dersfield and Perstone were visited. Although the Prince’s visit was informal great crowds gathered to welcome him.
