ALLEGED PERJURY
A CLERK CHARGED. [ Per Press Association. ) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 5. Five charges were preferred against John Black Batchelor, aged 32, solicitor’s clerk, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, alleging perjury in the Supreme Court on August 24, while giving evidence in a case concerning a petition for a dissolution of marriage; also with wilfully attempting to pervert the course of justice and with fabricating evidence with intent to mislead the Supreme Court. He was remanded till December 14. Bail was refused, tho Crown Prosecutor stating that there would probably be a sixth charge. The fifth charge hnd boon laid as the result of an allegation that Batchelor had interfered with witnessos when on bail.
