Scathing Attack
ROOSEVELT’S EXPERIMENT REPUBLICAN OPPONENTS By TeP^ranli.— As«n-jiation—Copyrirhtl Received Doc. 5. 7.49 p.m. WASHINGTON, IDec. 4. The Republican National Committee, apparently in anticipation of the reconvening of Congress in January and next year’s congressional elections, has issued a broadside attack on the recovery programme in a 35-page statement. It is contended that the Rooscvelt administration is conducting itself along the lines of a dictatorship, and has put private initiative in the “guard house,” is censoring radio and is trying to censor the press. While Mr. Roosevelt has escaped partisan criticism more than any President since Washington, he has more power than Lincoln, or Wilson iu war time. The statement criticises the N.R.A. monetary policy and practically all the other features of the recovery plan, and says that the Republicans do not consider the economic situation anything akin to a “war,” and are determined to maintain their identity and take issue on anything which the President docs when they see fit.
