POPULATION RACE
FRANCE, GERMANY AND ITALY. REPLACING WAR WASTAGE. Received Dec. 5, 10.12 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 5. The Daily Herald’s correspondents in Paris, Berlin and Rome stress that a iace is proceeding between Franco, Germany and Italy for population to replace the wastage of the war years. The population of Italy has increased by 3,750,000 but is still far below prewar. German effoits under the Hitler regime are the exclusion of women from factories, offices and universities and the granting of marriage loans. France encourages German Jew refugees to settle in the southern depart merits, but insists that they keep away from the eastern frontier.
