SATURDAYS RUGBY

THREE IMPORTANT GAMES HAWKE’S BAY vi WANGANUI KAI ER AU v. HUI A Next Saturday will be a big day in Wanganui Rugby, for the reason that there ar*, three important matches to bo played. A team of colts is being sent over from Hawke’s Bay to play a team of Wanganui colts. This -is expected to produce keen, bright football. As a cur-tain-raiser to the big match, Kaierau, the unbeaten champions of the Afetropoiitan Union, and holders of the President’s Rose Bowl, a trophy that signifies the champion team of the union, will defend their position against Huia, the crack Taihape team. This match will be a very keen affair. Huia will field the crack Afaori winger, T. Chase, who so impressed the public with his dashing displays at Hamilton and Auckland last week. The visitors will also play AlcCarthy, AfcKay, Afurphy, Pine and Raukkwa, all of them prominent in the game so far as the major union is concerned.

Another match of interest will be that for the Junior Cup, between Technical College and Kaierau. This is to be played on the racecourse. It will be recollected that these two teams met in the final for the cup and played a hard, fast, game, which ended in a draw. On Saturday they are to play off. If a draw results again the two sides will hold the cup for six months each. This will be one of the tit-bits of the season, particularly as the two teams are on even terms and are keen to win. The Technical College side is one of the best secondary school sides in the Dominion to-day.
