DANCE CLUB RAIDED

INCIDENT AT WELLINGTON POLICE SEIZE LIQUOR. ( Per Press Associatiou. j WELLINGTON, July 30. Armed with a search warrant, issued under the Licensing Act. a party of police raided Rodney’s Dance Club at Seatoun, a popular rendezvous, at an early hour this morning, and seized a considerable quantity of liquor, which was later removed in a black maria. The raiding party comprised SeniorSergeant D. Scott and Sergt. C. B. Duke, in charge of three constables, all in plain clothes. Shortly after midnight on Saturday they called at the club, which was conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Pankhurst, and situated in a no-license area, and proceeded to carry out a search for liquor. Dancing was in progress when the police arrived, there being about 20 couples present. The police did not take any names and no arrests were made.
