MAGISTRATE’S DECISION .* Ji Pre.-* Association. | INVERCARGILL, July 29. Judgment has been delivered by the magistrate, Mr. Lewy, in ease of the Southland News against William McChesney. The claim was for £39 in connection with advertising during the General Election, at which the defendant was the United Party candidate. Five members of his finance committee were joined as defendants, McChesney claiming that they verbally had agreed to defray his election costs. The magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiffs undrr the equity and good conscience clause, holding that the claim should be settled by the defendants ointly and severally. Cost of appeal was fixed at £lO 10s.
