Lessons on etiquette and table manners are being taught through the medium of short plays to older pupils of schools in America. The parts in these one-act playettes arc taken by the scholars of the school and it is proved that courtesy and manners are more quickly learned in this way, and once learned, never forgotten. The idea originated when special visitors to a school were expected and the ques tion arose as to how they were to be met and entertained and the proper procedure, followed, in the etiquette of introductions. A few lessons on etiquette found the pupils sadily lacking in the required knowledge, and realising that something should be done in the matter, the idea of teaching eour tesy as portrayed by the young actors in the specially arranged playettes was started and produced excellent resul's.
