SEVERE CONDEMNATION MEMBERS OF M.C.C. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, July 12. Seven members of the M.C.C., including Lord Suffield and Sir Home Gordon, iu a joint letter, support The Times’ cricketing writer’s criticism of the deadly dull leg theory tactics at the Oxford-Cambridge match. They add: “We regret that the tactics seem to savour of those employed in the Australian Tests, which destroy the whole charm, spirit, and enjoyment of the game.” UNIVERSITY MATCH DRAWN LONDON, July 12. • The University cricket match at Lords was drawn. Cambridge scored 209 in their first innings in reply ?o Oxford’s total of 164. B. Allen scored 53 runs and Owen-Smith took five wickets for 93 runs. Oxford, in their second innings, lost six wickets for 79 runs. WEST INDIES-LANCASHIRE LONDON. July 12. The West Indies batted first iu their match against Lancashire and lost two wickets for 131 runs (Headley 64 not out). OFFER TO HEADLEY LONDON. July 12. The Accrington Cricket Club is ex pected to offer Headley, the West Indian, a post in view of Fairfax’s resignation. Headley ig willing to remain ■ in England.
