FREEMASONS’ HOSPITAL
A REALISATION OF YEARS OPENED BY THE KING [ British Official Wireless. J Received July 13, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, July 12. The King, accompanied by the Queen, attended by the Home Secretary, drove from Buckingham Palace this afternoon to open the new Freemasons’ Hospital at Hammersmith, The King’s uncle, the Duke of Connaugh, Grand Master of the Order, received Their Majesties on arrival. The hospital was first projected 20 years ago, but completion was delayed by the war. After a brief service had been conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the King, in opening the hospital, said: “This fine building so admirably situated and planned to give the patients the benefits of sunshine and fresh air, is a worthy realisation of your hopes, and cannot fail to bring comfort and help to Freemasons and their families. I now declare it open and pray that with God’s blessing, within its walls may be found relief from suffering and restoration to health. ’ ’
