RUGBY FOOTBALL. PIRATES DEFEAT UTIKU. Pirates went well on Saturday to defeat Utiku by 11 points to 6, thus avenging the defeat Utiku inflicted upon them in the first round. The Pirate backs were greatly strengthened by the inclusion of Hansen, a senior player from the Hutt team (Wellington). Hansen filled the position of second five-eighths, and gave an excellent display. The Pirate backs gave their best performance this season, while the forwards also went well. The first three points came from a penalty kick by D. Thompson. Then Hansen scored as a result of a good piece of back play, all the Pirate’s backs handling. Don Derbidge (winger) made a spirited dash down the sideline and when stopped by P. Henery he passed infield to Hansen, who took the pass neatly and scored. D. Thompson converted the try, bringing Pirate’s tally up to 8. Keating got over in the corner from a forward rush. Thompson failed to convert from an acute angle. —Pirates 11 points. Johansen and Henery kicked penalty goals for Utiku, the final scores being: Pirates 11; Utiku 6. Mr. T. Graham was referee. Junior Football. Hautapu scored a surprise victory over Hiwera. defeating the competition leaders by 16 points to 5. For the winners tries were scored by Forbes, Keats, Esler, and Casey. Murray and Sidney step forth for a night of what-have-you at the Artists’ Masked Ball—Murray because he likes wild women and whoopee, and Sidney because he wants Murray’s business. But what they didn’t anticipate was being shadowed by Sidney’s wife and being captured by a gangster who is gunning for the man his beautiful fickle wife has been playing with—and Murray and Sidney are those men- The fact that they didn’t know she was the gangster’s wife doesn’t mean a thing to the gunmen! W. Scott Darling wrote the story of "Caught Cheating,’’ in which he lets the two comedians in for a lot of funny and thrilling adventures. The supporting programme includes a Bobby Jones golf featurette enittled “Medium Irons."
