Miss Nelle M. Scanlan left on Tuesday by the Aorangi for Sydney and Melbourne. After spending a few weeks there she will return to Wellington, from which port she will leave on her return to England.

Jackson, Dominion president of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, has been visiting the Nelson, Marlborough and Ashburton districts and next week will visit the branches of the mid-Canterbury and later will tour North Canterbury for the same purpose. * * « # Mrs. R. G. McNab, Liverpool Street Extension, is staying with Mrs. (Desmond Campion, “Okirae,” Fordell. Mrs. G. Handley, of Rapanui, Wanganui, who has been visiting Mrs. Horace Piper, Wellington, returned home on Wednesday, accompanied by Mrs. Piper, Mrs. Guy Williams and Miss Joan Williams, “To Parae,” Masterton, are visiting Wanganui, and are the guests of Mrs. Russell Grace, “Arles.” Mrs. Brown, who hase been visiting her’ mother, Mrs. Hadfield, of St. John’s Hill, has returned to her home at Auckland. The Bridges Trio, accompanied by their mother, Mrs. G. F. Bridges, Wanganui East, journeyed to Waverley yesterday, where they are giving a charity concert. While there, they will be the guests of the Clarendon Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Abraham are Palmerston North visitors to Wanganui. * * • * Mrs. P. of New Plymouth, arrived in Wanganui on Tuesday and is the guest of Miss Stanford, Wicksteed Street, Miss Doris Olphert left yesterday for Auckland where she will in future reside with her parents, the Rev. J. and Mrs. Olphert. Prior to her departure she was entertained at several farewell parties given by her friends. Miss I. Bunning, of Midhurst, is spending a holiday with Mrs L. Bailey, Duric Hill. Promising Golfer. Miss Pat Bell, aged 14J years, was the youngest competitor at the Wanganui ladies’ provincial golf championship tourney, which concluded on Wednesday on the Belmont links. Miss Bell was successful in winning the junior medal match. She is one of the most promising lady golfers in Wanganui. ELRICK CABARET TO-MORROW. Dancers, don’t forget that to-morrow the race night cabaret is to take place at the Elrick! Everyone who wishes to spend a thoroughly enjoyable evening amidst most pleasant surroundings, lancing to the best of music and on the best of floors should make sure that they have made ail arrangements to be present. Race night is always polly, for there is the holiday spirit abroad and everyone is out for a good time, such is to be found at the Elrick Cabaret.

Lady Jellicoe Club. An autumn flower show was held by the members of the gardening circle of the Lady Jellicoe Club in the club room on Wednesday. The many visitors present judged the display of flowers and decorative work done by the members. The entries were charmingly arranged and the blending of the different coloured flowers was greatly admired. Mrs. D. L. Blyth gained first place for her display of flowers and also won honours for the posy she exhibited. Mrs. H. Bayly won the prize for a bowl of flowers. Among those present were Mesdames H. G. Lewis, D. L. Blyth, H. Bayly, P. Paul, McGregor, L. Barron, Treadwell, H. Duigan, Benjamin, W. J. Gardiner, Tosswill. A. A. Barton, Lilburn, S. Smith, G. McLeod. T.
