OPERA HOUSE

GRAND VARIETY CONCERT Patrons desiring a high class and interesting programme should visit the Opera House next Monday evening, when Mr. H. J. Trussell’s orchestra, in conjunction with several artists, will give a concert. Miss J. Harman and Mr. S. Kendall ere vocalists of more than average ability, while Master Barry Pritchard, a pleasing young singer, will make his first appearance in Wanganui. A male quartette comprising Messrs. Francis (2)/ Pike and Canty will prove to be a surprise packet and the Salvation Army Giris Choir, under the baton o* Mr. R. Fran cis, L.A.8., is sure of a hearty re ception in view of recent successful performances at the'Town Hall, Wellington. An interesting number should be the “Capriccio Brilliante” for piano and orchestra, the soloist being Miss M. Hanson. Mrs. Trussell’s ability as a violinist is too well known to need comment, while the clever young trio, J. Mutton, N. Grant and B. Trussell have already made themselves warm favourites with local audiences. B. Trussell, who is only eight years old, will also be heard in a xylophone duet with his brother, W. Trussell. The humorous part of the programme is in the capable hands of Mr. Bob Howell and Mr. Arthur Ver non. The orchestra, which has Seen doing charitable work for the last ten years, has been considerably strength ened of late and will be heard in several delightful numbers, including the difficult “Flight of the Bumble Bee.” As the proceeds go to the Salvation Army and Plunket Society funds, a large audience should result from this effort.
