SPIVAKOSVKY-KUBTZ TRIO

The Wanganui public has already endorsed the policy of Mr W. Mandeville, managing-director of Celebrity Concerts. Ltd., as exemplified by tho success of the Dawson-Hambourg and Szigetti recitals. So generous has been the support given to the two ventures mentioned that Mr Mandeville now brings to New Zealand the world’s most famous instrumental trio—Jascha Spivakovsky (pianist), Tossy Spivakovsky (violinist), and Edmund Kurtz (violincellist). The formation of this trio was an outstanding event in the European musical season of 1932. as all three members of the combination had already established reputations as soloists of the very front rank. These distinguished artists arrive in Wanganui to-day and to-night will give their concert in the Opera House. The programme, which has been compiled to appeal to a wide range of musical taste, will include the famous Schubert trio, B Flat Major, Op. 99. The Wellington season, which concluded last night, was a sensational success and will live long in the memories of those fortunate enough to secure scats. Perhaps their plaving is most aptly summed up by the Rotterdam Courant: “The finest ensemble which we have ever heard. What power of expression! What a passionate interpretation! What magnificent ensemble work!” The box plan is at the. Bristol.
