At a meeting of the Board of New Zealand Trotting Association a letter was received from the Rotorua Trotting Club asking if it would bo permissible to include in its programme a local saddle event, for which the prize would be a trophy only, the race to be purely amateur iu character. 'The association replied that there would be no objection provided the horses and riders were registered. The stipendiary steward reported the unsatisfactory starting of a trotting event at the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting. He stated that if a qualified trolling starter had been cigr ployed tho mistake cannot have o’ curred. 11, was decided to circularise racing clubs including trotting events on their programmes that wherever possible qualified trolling starters should officiate for trotting events.
