Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, May 7, 4 p.m. General Situation.—The last of the recent long series of westerly depressions has been crossing tne Dominion to-day and an extensive anticyclone is now centred over South Eastern Australia. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong south-westerly to southerly reaching gale force in places. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-west winds to gales with rough to heavy seas. Weather: Cold, changeable and squally with showers in most districts, heavy in places and hail probable on parts of the coast. Snow on the ranges. The New Zealand I’iwnus' School, St. John's Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday. Bright sunshine, 2 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, .28 inches. Shades temperature: Maximum, 56 deg. Fahr.; mini mum, 48 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon.—May: First quarter, May 3. Full moon, May 11; Last quarter, May 17; New moon, May 24.
