BOXING
BOUT AT INVERCARGILL PRENDERGAST BEATS McEWAN [ Per Press Association. ] INVERCARGILL, May 7. In a scheduled 15-rounds contest at Tuatapero on Saturday night Frank Prendergast (list. 21b.) knocked out George McEwan (list. 41b.), in the sixth round. Tho contest was not for the New Zealand middleweight title, of which McEwan is the holder. Prendergast is a recent light-heavy-weight amateur champion. He fought in light-heavy and heavyweight classes at the last New Zealand championship and has now challenged McEwan for the title, to be fought at Invercargill, probably in four weeks’ time.
