MAORI ARRESTED
CHARGE OF THEFT. [ Per Press Association, j GISBORNE, May 5. A native named Pekawa Pouaka Whakataka was arrested at Ruatoria and charged with the theft of a motorcycle. He escaped from custody and no trace could be found of him for several days. Ultimately Constable Ryan stationed himself day and night ou a high hill overlooking the country round Tuparoa from whence through glasses he observed the escapee and then effected his arrest.
